Backup Friday: Why Backups Are a Small Biz’s Best Defense
Ransomware attackers often demand ransom, but the real danger (I mean, besides going out of business) is losing your data. The good news is, the 2024 Sophos State of Ransomware Report says businesses with data backups had a 70% chance of recovering without paying a ransom.
You are a SHERO — Small-business Harnessing & Empowered by Real-life Opportunity — and backing up your data regularly is your safety net.
Here’s how you can start today:
Save copies of your important files to an external hard drive, one you plug in and remove, or a cloud service.
Keep at least one backup copy separate from your main computers.
Test your backup occasionally to make sure you can restore your files.
Backups can save your business from ransomware disaster.
