Poorly protected Wi-Fi networks are one of the easiest ways hackers get in and mess your small biz up. The National Cyber Security Alliance reports that over 40% of cyberattacks on small businesses exploit weak Wi-Fi security. No Wi-Fi, no do.
You are a SHERO — Small-business Harnessing & Empowered by Real-life Opportunity — and securing your Wi-Fi is not complicated. Let's do 3 easy things today.
Here’s three easy things you can do today:
Change your Wi-Fi network’s name and password to something unique and strong.
When you set up your Wi-Fi router, as you go through the steps look for the strongest security setting available, which will be WPA3 or WPA2. Pick that! If you're not sure, take 15 minutes, call your provider, and ask them to talk you through how to do it.
Restart your router regularly, at least once a week, to apply updates and keep it secure. Tack this on to something else you do every week so it's an easy win.
These simple steps help make your Wi-Fi safer from hackers without you putting endless time into it or needing big tech skills.
