Ransomware Monday: Avoid Dodgy Emails, Prevent Ransomware

Phishing emails cause 95% of cybersecurity incidents, says Verizon’s 2024 Data Breach Report. Ransomware attacks via phishing increased 200% over three years, especially against small businesses.

You are a SHERO — Small-business Harnessing & Empowered by Real-life Opportunity — and securing your email to avoid phishing schemes is your safety net.

Here’s your plan:

  1. Train your team to spot phishing—look for odd greetings, urgent requests, or sender email addresses that are close - but not quite - the real thing.

  2. Don’t open attachments or click links from untrusted sources.

  3. Verify with who sent the email, by phone or text if unsure.

Stay sharp and block ransomware before it gets in.
